Fri Sep 20 12:39:36 UTC 2024: ## United Airlines Cracks Down on MillionMiler Status Sharing Loophole

United Airlines is putting an end to the “daisy chaining” loophole that allowed MillionMiler members to share their Global Services status with an unlimited number of companions.

Previously, a MillionMiler could nominate a companion to receive the same status, who could then nominate another companion, and so on. This practice, known as “daisy chaining”, effectively gave Global Services status to an unlimited number of people.

Starting January 1, 2025, MillionMilers will have to choose between receiving status from another MillionMiler or sharing their own status with a companion. They can no longer be both a recipient and a donor of status.

This change comes after an apparent increase in the practice of “daisy chaining”, leading United to close the loophole and prevent the limitless sharing of its top-tier status.

This move is likely to impact many travelers who benefited from the previous system, but it will also bring United’s MillionMiler program in line with other major airlines, which have more stringent restrictions on status sharing.
