Fri Sep 20 12:07:35 UTC 2024: ## Rashford’s Goals Boost United Confidence Ahead of Palace Clash
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is delighted with Marcus Rashford’s resurgence, praising the forward’s early-season goals as a confidence booster.
Rashford, who struggled last season, has already found the back of the net three times in two matches, including a brace against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup. “It’s very good that your strikers are starting to score when the season is very young,” Ten Hag said. “Strikers need that belief, and we have a couple of players who are now on the scoring list.”
The Red Devils travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday, looking to continue their positive momentum after a disappointing start to the season. They bounced back from defeats against Brighton and Liverpool with a 3-0 victory over Southampton and a 7-0 drubbing of Barnsley.
Ten Hag highlighted the importance of players stepping up and seizing their chances, particularly noting Antony’s performance after returning from injury. The winger, who joined from Ajax last year, marked his first start of the season with a penalty goal. “Every player should give those reactions,” said Ten Hag. “You have to train hard, perform in training, and take your chance when it comes.”
While United are looking to avoid a repeat of last season’s 4-0 defeat at Selhurst Park, Ten Hag emphasized the difference in circumstances this year. “We are in a different place now,” he said. “We have 18 players and we can pick a team.”
The manager is also confident in the return of Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount from injury, adding further depth to the squad. With a strengthened squad and a renewed sense of confidence, United will be looking to secure a victory at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
