Fri Sep 20 14:05:04 UTC 2024: ## Tottenham Manager Defends Solanke and Calls for Patience from Fans

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has defended the club’s record signing Dominic Solanke, calling for patience from fans who are quick to judge the player’s early performances.

Solanke, who arrived from Bournemouth for a club-record £65 million ($86 million), has made only three appearances so far due to an ankle injury sustained on his debut. Despite yet to score for Spurs, Postecoglou insists it’s too early to write off the 27-year-old striker.

“People are just so quick to judge,” said Postecoglou. “He’s played less than two full games for us. He’s still got plenty of time.”

Postecoglou also addressed the criticism surrounding Tottenham’s recent performances, which saw them win just one of their opening four league games. He emphasized the importance of perspective and urged fans to avoid hasty judgements.

“There is far more judgement than real reasoned, opinionated analysis,” he said. “We’ve just got to stay clear-eyed and focused on what we’re trying to achieve.”

The manager also expressed concern over the online abuse faced by forward Brennan Johnson, who recently deactivated his Instagram account. Postecoglou highlighted the importance of ignoring negativity and focusing on enjoying the game.

“It’s a shame that young people have to close off from something they enjoy because of abuse,” he said. “The most important people in your life are the ones you’ve got to worry about and their opinion.”

Postecoglou’s comments come ahead of Tottenham’s upcoming match against Brentford on Saturday. The manager reiterated his confidence in Solanke’s abilities and expressed optimism for the rest of the season.
