Leipzig, Germany – Music historians are celebrating the discovery of a previously unknown composition by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in the archives of the city’s libraries. The piece, titled “Ganz kleine Nachtmusik,” is believed to have been written by Mozart in his late childhood, around 1765.

The manuscript, which is likely a copy of the original, dates back to 1780. It consists of seven short movements for a string trio and has an estimated performance time of twelve minutes.

Scholars are excited about the discovery, as it sheds new light on Mozart’s early musical development. The piece joins the already extensive catalog of over six hundred works by the legendary composer that have survived to this day.
