**PUCHONG, MALAYSIA** – Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has strongly condemned the recent attacks on communication devices in Lebanon, which are believed to have been carried out by Israel. Describing the attacks as “inhuman,” Anwar emphasized the suffering of civilians, including women and children, caught in the crossfire.
The attacks, which occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday, resulted in at least 32 deaths and over 3,250 injuries, according to the Anadolu news agency. The explosions targeted thousands of wireless communication devices across the country.
In response, Malaysia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) has issued a statement urging Malaysians in Lebanon to stay informed about the situation, take necessary precautions, and follow travel advisories issued by local authorities. The Malaysian embassy in Beirut is also closely monitoring developments and maintaining communication with Lebanese authorities.
Meanwhile, Anwar expressed optimism about the recent interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve (Fed) in the United States. The Prime Minister, who also serves as Finance Minister, believes this move will contribute to the strengthening of the Malaysian ringgit, which is already showing signs of improvement. He dismissed criticisms from the opposition regarding the ringgit’s performance, highlighting its positive trend.
