Liam Neeson is back in action, this time playing an aging gangster enforcer seeking redemption in the upcoming film “Absolution”. The trailer, released recently, showcases Neeson’s signature action hero moves as he battles criminals and tries to reconnect with his estranged family.
The synopsis reveals that after dismantling a rival gang, Neeson’s character discovers that leaving the underworld behind isn’t as easy as he hoped. “Absolution” also features a star-studded supporting cast, including Ron Perlman, Yolonda Ross, and William Xifaras.
The film marks another action-packed role for Neeson, who has cemented his status as a Hollywood action mainstay with movies like “The Grey,” “Non-Stop,” and his most recent release, “In the Land of Saints and Sinners.” Currently in production on “Naked Gun,” Neeson is also set to star in “Mongoose” as Ryan “Fang” Flanagan, a war hero wrongly accused of a crime.
Neeson’s return to the action genre comes amidst his recent reflections on growing up during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. He spoke of being “surrounded by violence” and found it “interesting” to revisit that period through his work, describing it as “a piece of entertainment” in an interview with MovieWeb.
“Absolution” is set to hit theaters on November 1, 2024.
