Sat Sep 21 14:35:48 UTC 2024: ## Atishi Sworn in as Delhi’s Youngest Chief Minister, Kejriwal’s Future Uncertain

**New Delhi:** In a historic move, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi Marlena was sworn in as the youngest Chief Minister of Delhi on Saturday at the Raj Niwas. This comes after outgoing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal resigned following corruption allegations against him in the excise policy case.

Atishi, known for her role in transforming Delhi’s education system, assumed the top post amidst a tense political climate. In her first address, she emphasized the emotional weight of Kejriwal’s absence, highlighting his contributions to Delhi’s development, especially in education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment.

While Atishi took the oath, Kejriwal held a “Janta ki Adalat” to address the corruption charges. The AAP has requested government accommodation for Kejriwal, citing his role as the national party convener.

Atishi’s speech was laced with criticism of the BJP, accusing them of sabotaging Delhi’s governance and attempting to undermine Kejriwal. She stressed the importance of ensuring Kejriwal’s return to the CM’s seat, warning of consequences for essential services if he is not re-elected.

The new Cabinet, consisting of five ministers including Saurabh Bharadwaj, Gopal Rai, Imran Hussain, Kailash Gahlot, and Mukesh Ahlawat, was also sworn in. One position remains vacant for the time being.

The ceremony was marked by a subdued mood within the AAP, reflecting the resignation’s impact and the delay in approvals for the event. Despite the challenges, Atishi expressed her commitment to fulfilling her responsibilities under Kejriwal’s guidance and safeguarding Delhi’s interests.

Atishi holds 13 crucial portfolios, including Finance, Education, Public Works Department, and Power. Her appointment marks a significant shift in Delhi’s political landscape, raising questions about Kejriwal’s future and the AAP’s strategy for the upcoming elections.
