**Ahmedabad, India** – The Adani Foundation, the community engagement arm of the Adani Group, hosted the second edition of its Sathwaro Mela, a vibrant celebration of India’s diverse arts and crafts. The two-day event, held at Adani Shantigram in Ahmedabad from September 14-15, brought together over 80 artisans from 10 states, showcasing their unique skills and handmade products.
The mela provided a platform for artisans to connect directly with consumers, fostering a sense of appreciation and understanding for the rich tapestry of India’s heritage. Visitors, including Adani Group employees and their families, were drawn to the vibrant stalls showcasing a range of art forms, from intricate Chanderi and Patola saris to handcrafted terracotta artworks and oxidized jewelry.
The event highlighted the challenges faced by artisans, particularly those practicing dying art forms, who often struggle to market their products and earn a decent living. The Adani Foundation aims to bridge this gap by providing financial support, training, and access to larger markets.
“We did not know that our work is a form of art,” said Jasodaben Kotwadiya, an artisan from the tribal Kotwadiya community in Umarpada. “The Adani Foundation has helped women like us tremendously by bridging this gap between buyers and sellers.”
The Sathwaro Mela proved successful, generating over Rs 30,00,000 in sales and raising awareness among visitors about the beauty and value of Indian arts and crafts.
Dr. Priti Adani, Chairperson of the Adani Foundation, emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting India’s rich cultural heritage. “Through Sathwaro, we are contributing to the revival of art and cultural heritage,” she said, adding that the initiative encourages artisans to become more market-oriented and innovative.
The event was a testament to the power of collaboration and community engagement, providing a platform for artisans to showcase their talent, connect with consumers, and generate sustainable livelihoods. The Adani Foundation continues to invest in initiatives that empower communities and preserve the rich cultural heritage of India.
