**HANOI** – Vietnam’s president and ruling Communist Party chief, To Lam, will travel to the United States next week to attend the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The visit will take place from September 21st to September 27th, according to a foreign ministry spokesperson.
While in the US, Lam will deliver a speech at the UN event and meet representatives from major corporations including Google and Meta. While a meeting with US President Biden is not confirmed, Reuters previously reported that it was a possibility.
Following his US trip, Lam will embark on an official visit to Cuba, a longstanding communist partner of Vietnam.
This visit marks a significant step in Vietnam’s continued engagement with the international community. It is expected to further strengthen ties between Vietnam and the US, while reaffirming the country’s relationship with Cuba.
