Thu Sep 19 19:29:09 UTC 2024: ## Union Minister Bittu Faces FIR for Calling Rahul Gandhi “Terrorist”

**Bengaluru, India:** Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, is facing an FIR in Bengaluru for his controversial remarks labeling Congress leader Rahul Gandhi a “number one terrorist.” The FIR was filed on Thursday by Congress leaders at the High Grounds police station following a complaint.

Bittu’s statement, made in response to Rahul Gandhi’s comments on the Sikh community during his US visit, has sparked widespread controversy. The Minister claimed that Gandhi’s statements had been praised by separatists and accused him of being a “terrorist” for receiving support from those who, according to Bittu, are “experts in manufacturing bombs.”

The Congress party has protested strongly against Bittu’s remarks, with several leaders staging demonstrations in Delhi and filing police complaints against the minister.

The controversy stems from Rahul Gandhi’s comments on the Sikh community during his US visit. He claimed that Sikhs in India might be denied their religious freedoms, specifically mentioning the right to wear turbans and kadas and visit Gurudwaras.

Bittu’s comments, however, were met with sharp criticism from the Congress, which has condemned them as inflammatory and politically motivated. The party has called for an apology from the minister, arguing that his remarks are unacceptable and disrespectful to the Sikh community. The situation continues to escalate, with further legal action expected.
