**London, UK** – The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) has launched a pilot program called “Better Outcomes through Linked Data” (BOLD) to improve support for victims of crime, specifically focusing on victims of sexual violence. The program, which is a collaboration with the Sexual Violence and Exploitation Reduction Charity Coalition (SWERCC), utilizes data sharing between government agencies and support services.

The pilot project focuses on the journey of a victim-survivor through a sexual violence support service in Essex. Researchers are analyzing data shared by two out of the three Rape Crisis Centres in the Synergy Essex partnership (SERICC and SOSRC). This information will be used to understand how victims navigate the support system and identify areas where services can be improved.

The research aims to understand the potential benefits of linking data from different organizations, ultimately providing a more holistic picture of the victim’s experience. This could lead to more targeted and effective support for victims of sexual violence.

“This is a groundbreaking initiative that has the potential to revolutionize the way we support victims of crime,” said a spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice. “By sharing data in a safe and secure way, we can gain a deeper understanding of the needs of victims and develop more effective support services.”

The project is still in its early stages, but the results so far suggest that linked data has significant potential to improve the lives of victims. The Ministry of Justice hopes that this pilot program will pave the way for similar initiatives across the country.
