Fri Sep 20 10:19:10 UTC 2024: ## India Dominate Bangladesh in First Test, Set Up Massive Lead

**Chennai, September 20, 2024:** India asserted their dominance over Bangladesh in the first Test match at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, securing a massive lead of 227 runs at the end of day two.

Bangladesh, chasing a challenging target of 377 runs, were bowled out for a paltry 149 in their first innings. Their batting woes continued as they struggled against India’s disciplined bowling attack, with Jasprit Bumrah leading the charge with a stellar performance.

Bumrah, the pace spearhead, claimed four wickets for 50 runs. He was ably supported by Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj, who both snagged two wickets each. Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with a crucial two wickets, leaving the Bangladeshi batsmen frustrated.

Bangladesh’s innings was punctuated by poor shot selection and lack of resilience. Shakib Al Hasan, with a top score of 32, offered some resistance, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz, with a fighting 27 not out, provided some much-needed stability in the latter stages.

Earlier in the day, India resumed their first innings on 339/6 and added 37 runs before being bowled out for 376. Ravichandran Ashwin, who continued his brilliant form, ended his innings on 113, while Jadeja’s knock ended on 86. For Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud claimed a five-wicket haul, while Taskin Ahmed bagged three wickets.

The second innings of the Test match is set to begin on Saturday, with India looking to further cement their dominance and potentially secure a resounding victory in the first match of the series.
