**Mumbai:** After a 31-year wait, the animated film “Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama” is finally making its theatrical debut across India. The Indo-Japanese production, originally released in 1992, will hit theaters on October 18th, coinciding with the festive season of Dussehra and Diwali. The film will be available in Hindi, English, Tamil, and Telugu.
This iconic adaptation of the Indian epic “Ramayana” tells the story of Lord Ram’s journey to rescue his wife Sita from the clutches of the demon king Ravana. Directed by Koichi Sasaki and Ram Mohan, with music composed by Vanraj Bhatia, the film is considered one of the earliest animated depictions of the Hindu text.
“Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama” originally premiered at the International Film Festival of India in 1993 and was later broadcast on television. This theatrical release marks a significant return for the film, which has been revamped with the creative vision of renowned screenwriter V Vijayendra Prasad, known for his work on blockbusters like “Baahubali,” “Bajrangi Bhaijaan,” and “RRR.”
