**Uniondale, NY – September 20, 2024** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a packed audience of over 16,000 at a diaspora rally in Uniondale, New York, on Sunday. The event, titled “Modi and US, Progress Together,” will be held at the Nassau Coliseum and precedes Modi’s participation in the Quad summit in Delaware and his address at the UN’s “Summit of the Future” in New York.
Organizers, overwhelmed by the response, had to limit attendance due to venue capacity, receiving over 25,000 applications for the event. A cultural program featuring performances by 15 selected groups, prioritizing children’s acts and showcasing India’s cultural diversity, will precede Modi’s speech.
Avinash Gupta, President of the tri-state chapter of the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), confirmed that no politicians will be on stage during the event, although some may attend as audience members. This comes just 44 days before the US presidential election.
While in New York, Modi is expected to hold meetings with other world leaders attending the UN summit, including a planned meeting with former President Donald Trump, who is also the Republican presidential candidate. Trump held a rally at the Nassau Coliseum just this Wednesday.
The Quad summit will bring together Prime Ministers Anthony Albanese of Australia and Fumio Kishida of Japan, while the “Summit of the Future” aims to bring world leaders together to set the UN’s agenda for addressing global challenges and opportunities.
