Thu Sep 19 05:46:00 UTC 2024: ## Eleven Individuals Charged with Job Scam in Taiping

**Taiping, Sept 18** – Eleven individuals, including a pregnant woman, were charged in the Taiping Sessions Court today for allegedly engaging in a job scam in August. The accused, aged between 21 and 26, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The alleged crime occurred on August 14th at Taman Desa Tekkah Sentosa in the Larut, Matang, and Selama districts. The defendants were accused of conspiracy to commit a criminal offence under Section 420 of the Penal Code. If convicted, they could face imprisonment for up to six months, a fine, or both.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Arfahanim Azureen Arfanuddin requested bail of RM25,000 for each defendant, with the additional conditions of monthly reporting to a nearby police station and surrendering their passports until the case is concluded.

Lawyer S. Privesh Paul Singh, representing one of the defendants, Ng Kai Yee, who is seven months pregnant, requested a lower bail of RM2,000. Lawyer Tan Kian Peng, representing the other ten defendants, also requested a bail reduction, citing their unemployment and reliance on their parents.

Judge Nabisha Ibrahim set bail at RM8,000 for each individual, with the additional conditions requested by the prosecution. The next case mentions are scheduled for October 29th and November 8th.
