Fri Sep 20 03:47:37 UTC 2024: ## Australia Dominate England in First ODI at Trent Bridge

**Nottingham, England:** Australia cruised to a dominant seven-wicket victory over England in the first ODI at Trent Bridge, chasing down a target of 316 with ease. Travis Head, who was named Player of the Match, led the charge with a sensational unbeaten 154 from 129 deliveries, smashing 14 fours and three sixes in his sixth ODI century.

The hosts, who won the toss and elected to bat first, looked promising early on thanks to a century stand between Ben Duckett (96) and Will Jacks (62) from just 86 balls. However, Australia clawed their way back into the game through the bowling of Marnus Labuschagne (3-39) and Adam Zampa (3-49), who both claimed three wickets each. England eventually fell to 315 all out.

Australia’s chase started with the early dismissal of captain Mitch Marsh (10), but Head and Steve Smith (32) quickly built a crucial 50-run partnership from just 40 deliveries. Head continued his aggressive strokeplay, reaching his 17th ODI half-century off just 50 balls.

Despite the loss of Smith, Head and Cameron Green (32) kept the momentum going, putting together a 50-run stand of their own. However, Jacob Bethell, on his ODI debut, claimed Green’s wicket, leaving Australia on 171-3.

Undeterred, Head continued his stellar performance, reaching his sixth ODI century off 92 deliveries, peppering the boundary with 14 fours and three sixes. He received valuable support from Labuschagne, who also smashed two sixes and a four in his way to an unbeaten 77.

The two batsmen comfortably guided Australia to victory with 37 balls to spare, extending their unbeaten run in ODIs to 13 matches.

The second ODI takes place at Trent Bridge on Saturday, September 21st.
