Jodhpur, Rajasthan: Priyanka Bishnoi, a promising young IAS officer who recently rose to prominence for her inspiring speech about her journey to becoming an administrator, has tragically passed away. She was 34.

Bishnoi, who served as the Additional City Magistrate (ACM) in Jodhpur, died in Ahmedabad on Wednesday after her health deteriorated following a hysterectomy surgery performed at Vasundhara Hospital in Jodhpur. Her family has accused the hospital of medical negligence and has filed a complaint with the authorities.

Bishnoi’s death has sent shockwaves through the state, especially after her motivational speech at the Samarathal Foundation event went viral on social media. In the speech, she had candidly recounted her journey from a young girl who was captivated by the sight of an SDM’s car to a successful IAS officer.

Following her surgery, Bishnoi’s condition began to worsen, leading her family to seek treatment at Ahmedabad’s SIMS hospital. However, despite receiving advanced medical care, she succumbed to complications. A CT scan revealed multiple brain hemorrhages, believed to be caused by an arteriovenous malformation (AVM), a congenital anomaly.

Bishnoi’s death has sparked outrage among the public and her colleagues. Users on social media are demanding action against the doctors responsible for her treatment, echoing the family’s allegations of negligence.

The incident has also drawn the attention of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, with the Bishnoi community demanding a CBI probe into the matter.

The deceased officer’s body was brought to Jodhpur on Thursday, where a postmortem was conducted at the AIIMS hospital. However, members of the Bishnoi community, who have staged a protest demanding action against Vasundhara Hospital, are seeking an independent investigation.

Bishnoi’s final rites will be conducted at her in-laws’ village of Surpura in Phalodi. She was married to Vikram Bishnoi, an Excise Inspector in Phalodi.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of patient safety and accountability in the medical field. As investigations into the alleged medical negligence unfold, the focus will remain on ensuring justice for the family and preventing similar tragedies in the future.
