Wed Sep 18 01:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Hybrid and Remote Work Opportunities Decline in Ireland as Companies Push for Office Return

**Dublin, Ireland** – Despite Ireland’s strong job market, a recent shift in employer preference is leading to a decline in hybrid and remote work opportunities. According to LinkedIn data, hybrid roles have seen a 12.5% year-on-year decrease, while remote positions have fallen by 14.8%.

While Ireland boasts one of the highest shares of hybrid and remote job opportunities in Europe, with 39% of job postings offering flexible options, the demand for these roles is now exceeding supply. This is causing employers to reconsider their remote work policies, even as many companies struggle to attract and retain employees in a competitive market.

Tech giant Amazon, with a significant presence in Ireland, is among the companies leading this trend. The company announced a return to a five-day-a-week office policy for most staff starting in January, ending the two-day-a-week remote work option.

However, the Irish jobs market remains strong overall, with Dublin experiencing positive hiring momentum and ranking among the top metropolitan areas for job growth. LinkedIn Ireland country manager Sue Duke attributed this to the “competitive job market” and highlighted the benefits of flexible work options for employers.

The analysis also revealed that Irish job seekers are becoming more active, with Ireland ranking sixth in the world for job search intensity on LinkedIn. This trend is expected to increase as people return from holidays in August.

While the shift towards office-based work may be causing a decrease in remote opportunities, the overall demand for workers in Ireland remains high. Employers are still facing challenges in attracting talent, suggesting that flexible work options will likely remain a crucial factor in recruiting and retaining skilled workers.
