Wed Sep 18 01:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Ploughing Championships Become Casting Ground for Irish TV Stars

**Ratheniska, Co Laois:** The National Ploughing Championships, known for its agricultural prowess, has become an unlikely hunting ground for the next generation of Irish television stars. Producers from Kite Entertainment are holding a massive open casting call at the three-day event, seeking participants for popular shows like “Ireland’s Fittest Family”, “Gogglebox”, “Love in the Country”, and the Irish adaptation of the hit reality show “The Traitors”.

Producers are looking for a diverse range of individuals, including singles seeking farm-life romance on “Love in the Country”, strong families for “Ireland’s Fittest Family”, and charismatic personalities for “Gogglebox”.

The highlight, however, is the casting for the Irish version of “The Traitors”, a psychological game show where contestants must betray each other to win a grand prize. Casting producer Milly McLaughlin is looking for individuals with a mischievous streak who can pull the wool over others’ eyes.

“We’re looking for everybody – from all walks of life, all age groups, nationalities, anybody who is slightly different, works in an interesting job or feels like they can actually pull the wool over people’s eyes,” Ms McLaughlin said. “It’s not an easy thing to do and that’s going to be the hardest part for many people, to lie to a group of people that you are hanging out with every day.”

Aside from the casting call, the Ploughing Championships offer a multitude of activities, including brown bread baking competitions, a search for the fittest farmer, and even a chance to explore space with virtual reality technology. Engineers Ireland is present, showcasing a robotic dog capable of 3D-scanning buildings and entering hazardous environments, inspiring future generations to pursue careers in engineering.

With a bustling atmosphere and a diverse range of activities, the National Ploughing Championships are not just about farming; they are a platform for showcasing talent, fostering aspirations, and providing a glimpse into the future of Irish television.
