Wed Sep 18 17:38:00 UTC 2024: ## Thought Leadership & Innovation Foundation Takes Over Limb Loss and Preservation Registry

**McLEAN, Va., Sept. 18, 2024** – The Thought Leadership & Innovation Foundation (TLI) has assumed ownership of the Limb Loss and Preservation Registry (LLPR) from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). This transfer, approved by NICHD, marks a significant step forward in TLI’s mission to drive innovation in healthcare and improve outcomes for individuals facing limb loss and limb difference.

The LLPR, established in 2018, is a centralized data warehouse that plays a crucial role in addressing public health knowledge gaps, refining rehabilitation approaches, and guiding the development of functional devices for individuals with limb loss.

“This transfer of ownership positions TLI to further the LLPR’s mission of improving the quality, safety, effectiveness, and cost of limb loss and limb difference treatment,” said Shawn Murphy, Vice President of TLI and former program manager for LLPR under NICHD and Mayo Clinic.

The registry will maintain its multi-stakeholder model, fostering collaboration among healthcare providers, care sites, payers, device manufacturers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.

Cass Isidro, President of the Amputee Coalition, emphasized the importance of this transition, stating, “This marks a significant step forward in our collective efforts to drive healthcare innovation and improve outcomes for individuals facing limb loss and limb difference.”

The Amputee Coalition, a national nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals who experience limb loss, will continue to work alongside TLI to provide resources and support to those impacted by limb loss and limb difference.

TLI, a not-for-profit organization working at the intersection of science, technology, and public health, is committed to improving healthcare outcomes for patients facing life-altering medical diagnoses. The organization encourages donations to support the LLPR’s mission.
