Wed Sep 18 11:37:00 UTC 2024: ## Notorious Serial Killer Peter Tobin Dies of Cancer After Fall in Prison

**Edinburgh, Scotland** – Notorious serial killer Peter Tobin, 76, died on October 8, 2022, at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, a month after a fall in his prison cell at HMP Edinburgh. Tobin, who was serving three life sentences for the murders of three young women, had been suffering from undiagnosed cancer for years, a fatal accident inquiry (FAI) heard.

Tobin had refused medical tests and his cancer was only discovered after he fell and fractured his hip in September 2022. A post-mortem confirmed the cause of death as bronchial pneumonia in a man with a fractured right neck of femur, generalized vascular disease, and prostate cancer.

Tobin was convicted in 2007 for the murder of Polish student Angelika Kluk, 23, whose body was found hidden under St Patrick’s Church in Glasgow. He was also convicted of the murders of Vicky Hamilton, 15, and Dinah McNicol, 18, whose remains were discovered buried under the patio of his former home in Margate, Kent.

Tobin is also suspected of the disappearance of 18-year-old Louise Kay from Beachy Head in 1988 and the murder of 22-year-old student Jessie Earl, who also disappeared from Eastbourne in 1980.

The FAI, which will determine if any lessons can be learned from Tobin’s death, heard that he had been diagnosed with dementia in 2020 and suffered from various health problems, including strokes, dizziness, and chest pains.

The court heard that Tobin’s cancer was suspected as early as 2016, but he refused to undergo testing.

The inquiry continues.
