Wed Sep 18 03:07:48 UTC 2024: ## Sarah McLachlan Honored with Commemorative Canada Post Stamp and “Sarah McLachlan Day” in Vancouver

Canadian music icon Sarah McLachlan was celebrated in Vancouver on September 17th with the unveiling of a commemorative Canada Post stamp featuring her likeness. The singer-songwriter, known for hits like “Adia” and “Building a Mystery,” expressed her deep pride in being Canadian and viewed the stamp as a symbol of connection and communication, much like music itself.

The unveiling ceremony took place at the Sarah McLachlan School of Music, a non-profit organization she founded in 2002 to provide accessible music education for youth. The stamp features a stylized version of McLachlan’s signature against a yellow background, incorporating details from her artwork.

In recognition of her contributions to Vancouver, Mayor Ken Sim declared September 17th, 2024, “Sarah McLachlan Day,” presenting a written proclamation at the event.

McLachlan, a multiple Grammy and Juno Award winner, has sold over 40 million albums worldwide. She was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2017 and received the Order of Canada in 1999 and the Order of British Columbia in 2001. She will also be inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame on September 28th.

The singer recently completed a 30th-anniversary tour for her breakthrough album, “Fumbling Towards Ecstasy.” While wrapping up the tour in Victoria in November, she confirmed she is currently in the studio finishing a new album, with a potential release in late spring.
