Thu Sep 19 18:08:58 UTC 2024: ## PM Modi Rallies in Srinagar, Promises Statehood for Jammu and Kashmir

**Srinagar:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Srinagar today as part of his Jammu and Kashmir tour, addressing a large election rally at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium. He expressed delight over the high voter turnout in the first phase of the Assembly elections and urged people to break all records in the second phase on September 25th. He also reiterated his promise to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

During his speech, PM Modi blamed the Congress, National Conference (NC), and PDP for the deterioration of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted the improved security situation, increased tourism, and the resumption of Muharram processions after three decades as indicators of progress.

He accused the three political families of peddling hate for decades for their political gain, hindering the progress of Kashmiri youth.

PM Modi emphasized the high voter turnout as a sign of the decline in terrorism and people’s trust in the democratic process. He contrasted this with the nervousness of the Congress, NC, and PDP, accusing them of trying to cling to power and exploit the people.

He further stated that the current generation of youth in J&K has been denied opportunities due to the failures of these three parties. He pledged his commitment to free Jammu and Kashmir from terrorism, provide employment opportunities for youth, and defeat any forces conspiring against the region.

PM Modi highlighted government initiatives such as the return of 50,000 students to schools, the introduction of pre-primary classes in 15,000 schools, and the upgrade of 250 schools into PM SHRI schools. He concluded by stating that the three political families have nothing to offer the people and their time is over.

PM Modi will continue his tour by addressing a public gathering in Katra, Jammu later today. He is also scheduled to visit Mata Vaishno Devi temple and may participate in a roadshow.
