**Chennai, September 18, 2024:** New York-based musician Harini ‘Rini’ Raghavan, known for her eclectic fusion of Carnatic, jazz, and alt-rock influences, will be performing in her hometown of Chennai this Saturday as part of her “The Moon Drops India Tour”.
The multi-city tour, named after Rini’s 2023 song “Moon Thuli,” kicked off in Bengaluru and will continue to Delhi, Kochi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad.
Rini, who studied electronic production and design at Berklee College of Music, cites A.R. Rahman’s pioneering use of synthesizers in the 1992 film “Roja” as a major inspiration for her music.
For her Chennai performance, she will be joined by an international ensemble including Ranajoy Das (drums), Achal Murthy (bass), Andrew Cheng (guitar), Shahar Amdor (saxophone), and fellow singer Shakthisree Gopalan. The setlist will feature a mix of original songs, including “Mango Showers”, “Kapi in Rio”, and “Marina”, along with a few covers.
“There is an instant connection with my audiences in Chennai, given how many of my compositions are rooted here,” Rini said. “I am looking forward to this.”
The concert will be held at @Barracuda Brew on September 21, starting at 7 pm. Tickets are available on Skillbox.
