Wed Sep 18 14:38:00 UTC 2024: ## Former Heavyweight Prospect David Price Reflects on Early Rivalries with Fury and Joshua

**London, UK** – David Price, once considered the UK’s top heavyweight prospect, has spoken about his early encounters with fellow boxing stars Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Price, who won bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, had a significant age advantage over both men and was seen as the superior fighter in their amateur days.

Price, now 40, recounts his victory over a young Fury in the 2006 ABA seniors competition, stating that he had to be at his best to overcome the future heavyweight champion. Despite this early success, Price’s professional career never reached the same heights as his former rivals.

In 2010, Price sparred with a then-young Joshua, who was aiming to follow in his footsteps and represent Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics. Price recalls knocking Joshua down with a right hand during the sparring session, but acknowledges that Joshua was still finding his feet in the sport.

While Fury and Joshua have gone on to become world heavyweight champions, Price’s career was plagued by setbacks, including multiple knockout losses. Despite his early promise, he retired in 2021 without ever challenging for a world title.

Looking back, Price acknowledges the talent Fury and Joshua possessed, highlighting their resilience and ability to learn from their setbacks. Both men are now on the verge of regaining their former glory, with Fury set to rematch Oleksandr Usyk on December 21 and Joshua facing Daniel Dubois this Saturday.

This Saturday’s fight between Joshua and Dubois will be a crucial test for both fighters as they seek to return to the top of the heavyweight division.
