**Jakarta, September 18, 2024** – DBS Indonesia has unveiled the digibank Z Visa Platinum credit card, crafted from recycled PVC plastic, targeting environmentally conscious Gen Z and Millennials. The card aligns with the growing demand for sustainable financial solutions among younger generations.

“Gen Z and Millennials are deeply concerned about the future of our planet,” said Ari Lastina, Head of Card and Loan Business at PT Bank DBS Indonesia. “This recycled credit card provides them with a financial solution that is both functional and environmentally responsible.”

The card’s sustainable design reflects recent research indicating a strong preference among younger consumers for eco-friendly products. A 2021 First Insight study found that 73% of young people are willing to pay more for products that benefit the environment. Similarly, a 2023 McKinsey study highlighted the growing importance of social and environmental impact in purchasing decisions by Gen Z and Millennials.

“By combining modern financial technology with our commitment to sustainability, we support young people on their journey towards a more sustainable future,” added Ari.

Each digibank Z Visa Platinum card printed with recycled materials reduces plastic waste by 3.18 grams per card and CO2 emissions by 7 grams. The product exemplifies DBS Indonesia’s sustainability pillars of Responsible Banking and Impact Beyond Banking, which integrate sustainability into banking products and services while benefiting society beyond banking.

The eco-friendly banking product caters to customers seeking to reduce their carbon footprint. Notably, 76% of DBS Indonesia’s customers opt for online application processes with 60-second approval, minimizing paper usage.

“This aligns with our vision to become ‘Best Bank for A Better World’ and supports the growth of a low-carbon economy and achieving Indonesia’s net-zero emission (NZE) target by 2060,” stated Melfrida Gultom, Consumer Banking Director at PT Bank DBS Indonesia. The digibank Z Visa Platinum credit card is made with 85% recycled materials.

The news comes as political parties are expected to nominate qualified individuals to fill cabinet positions for the potential Prabowo-Gibran administration. Meanwhile, authorities are investigating incidents involving citizens in Bali and East Java, highlighting the need for accountability within the legal system.
