Wed Sep 18 14:51:00 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka to Build Film City in Mysuru: Project to Boost Film Tourism and Employment

**Mysuru, Karnataka:** The long-awaited film city in Karnataka will finally become a reality, with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah directing officials to transfer land to the Information and Publicity Department for development. The city will be built on a 110-acre plot in Immavu village, Nanjangud taluk, on a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

The project, which was first announced in the 2015-16 budget, received a major boost this week after a meeting between the Chief Minister, film industry representatives, and department officials. The film city is expected to include theatres, studios, multiplex, theme parks, and hotels, attracting film tourism and generating employment opportunities.

Siddaramaiah also directed officials to identify an additional 50 acres for the expansion of the project in its second phase. An expression of interest will be called for the execution of the film city after the land transfer.

The project has been met with enthusiasm from the Kannada film industry, which has long advocated for its establishment. A delegation of film personalities recently met with Siddaramaiah, urging him to expedite the project. The project was previously delayed due to confusion over the location, with considerations for Mysuru, Bengaluru, and Ramanagara.

The meeting was attended by Social Welfare Minister H.C. Mahadevappa, Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi, Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy chairman Sadhu Kokila, and other officials.
