Wed Sep 18 14:50:57 UTC 2024: ## Irish Company to Build Major Sustainable Aviation Fuel Hub in Nova Scotia

**Goldboro, Nova Scotia** – Irish clean energy group Simply Blue Group has announced plans to build a major Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) hub in Nova Scotia, Canada. The project will be located on a 755-acre site in Goldboro, utilizing renewable electricity generated from Simply Blue Group’s own solar and wind farms in the area.

The company plans to produce approximately 150,000 tonnes of SAF per year, utilizing Nova Scotia’s sustainable biomass and water resources. This clean fuel, which matches the performance of conventional jet fuel while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 90%, will play a significant role in reducing dependence on fossil fuels and combating climate change.

“This industry will help us, and our global partners fight climate change, and it will grow our green economy in Nova Scotia with benefits for generations to come,” said Tory Rushton, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables.

Hugh Kelly, CEO & Co-Founder of Simply Blue Group, expressed his excitement about the project, calling the Goldboro site a “renewable energy park.” He emphasized the crucial role SAF will play in reducing reliance on fossil fuels and combatting climate change.

The project marks a significant expansion for Simply Blue Group into North America and will contribute to Nova Scotia’s goal of becoming a leader in green hydrogen production. This development is expected to create significant economic benefits for the region, with the potential to create new jobs and stimulate the local economy.
