Wed Sep 18 15:36:56 UTC 2024: ## Kolisi to Coach from the Box as Springboks Face Crucial Argentina Clash

South African rugby captain Siya Kolisi will be taking on a new role during Saturday’s Rugby Championship clash against Argentina, sitting in the coach’s box rather than on the field. The double World Cup winner was brought to Argentina as a back-up flanker but will instead gain valuable experience observing coach Rassie Erasmus’ decision-making process.

Erasmus has implemented this initiative to help senior players better understand the strategic choices made during matches, a practice he previously employed with former number eight Duane Vermeulen during last year’s Rugby World Cup.

“Siya was not brought to play, but to be on standby if someone gets injured and also to help lead the team off the field,” Erasmus explained.

Kolisi, who has been playing with a fractured nose, is expected to return to the team for the home game against Argentina on September 28th, after which he will undergo surgery.

Meanwhile, Erasmus praised the Argentinians, who have already secured impressive wins over New Zealand and Australia in the championship, highlighting their potential to upset the Springboks. “We are playing against a team that has got their future in their own hands,” he said.

Erasmus acknowledged the unique threat posed by the Argentinians, noting their speed and agility, honed from a strong Sevens system, combined with a powerful forward pack. “They have got the ability of making the game really fast and open,” he remarked.

Finally, Erasmus confirmed that flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu has sustained a knee injury and will be sidelined until the autumn internationals in November.
