**Moga, Punjab:** Three individuals, including a teenager, were apprehended on Wednesday for the murder of 22-year-old Gurmukh Singh. The victim, a resident of Singhwala village in Moga district, was found dead in a drain on the outskirts of the village on September 16.
The investigation revealed that the murder was orchestrated by 19-year-old Gurbawa Singh, who claimed Gurmukh had been blackmailing him with an objectionable video. To eliminate the threat, Gurbawa conspired with his friend, 22-year-old Gurlal Singh, who agreed to kill Gurmukh for a fee of ₹15,000.
On September 15, Gurlal, accompanied by his friend Onkar Singh (20), arrived in Singhwala. They lured Gurmukh into drinking alcohol and then, in a gruesome act, Onkar strangled him with a cloth while Gurlal slit his throat with a knife. The duo then dumped the body in a drain and fled on the victim’s motorcycle.
After the murder, Gurbawa paid Gurlal ₹4,000 and a mobile phone as promised. The three accused were arrested and charged with murder and conspiracy under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation into the case is ongoing.
