**O’FALLON, ILL. -** A viral TikTok video highlighting severe traffic congestion at exit 16 on westbound Interstate 64 has caught the attention of U.S. Representative Nikki Budzinski, D-Springfield. The video, which garnered over 40 million views, shows a traffic jam so extensive it stretches back onto the interstate.

Budzinski, who represents portions of Madison and St. Clair counties, has written to Illinois Department of Transportation Secretary Omer Osman requesting immediate action to alleviate the problem. In her letter, she cites the “confusion and congestion” at the interchange, creating a dangerous situation for drivers and hindering traffic flow.

The TikTok video, which has garnered 5.2 million “likes” and 13,000 comments, has brought the issue to the forefront, prompting Budzinski to call for expedited planning and implementation of a solution.
