Mon Sep 16 16:20:26 UTC 2024: ## Apple Rumored to Host Hardware Event, Unveiling New Macs and iPads

Apple is gearing up for another hardware-focused event in the coming weeks, following their “It’s Glowtime” event which featured new iPhone and Apple Watch products. This time, the focus will be on Macs and iPads, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The event is expected to unveil a range of new products, including:

* **M4-powered Macs:** The new MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac Mini will all receive upgrades to Apple’s M4 chip, with the MacBook Pro potentially offering M4 Pro and M4 Max options. The new Macs are also expected to ditch the 8GB RAM option, with 16GB becoming the minimum.
* **New iPad Mini:** The iPad Mini 7 is rumored to launch, potentially featuring an A16 or A17 chip, similar to those used in iPhones.
* **Lower-end iPad:** A new, lower-end iPad model, possibly the 11th generation, could also be unveiled alongside the iPad Mini.

The new Mac Mini is reportedly undergoing a redesign, becoming Apple’s smallest computer yet. It will feature five USB Type-C ports, eliminating USB Type-A altogether. The iMac, however, is expected to retain its current design with the primary upgrade being the M4 chip.

While rumors suggest that a larger, 30-inch iMac is in development, it is unlikely to be unveiled at this event.

The exact dates for the upcoming event and the specific release dates for these new products remain unclear. However, Gurman predicts that the M4 Macs will be released throughout the rest of 2023 and into 2024. The iPad Mini and lower-end iPad could launch in October or November.
