**Davis, CA** – The UC Davis Aggies are aiming to carry the momentum from their first road win of the season into this weekend’s home matchup against the Utah Tech Trailblazers. Head Coach Tim Plough expressed excitement about his team’s performance in the 24-21 victory over Southern Utah, despite facing a tough opponent in Utah Tech.
Plough highlighted the defensive prowess of the Trailblazers, led by Head Coach Lance Anderson, a veteran coach with experience at Stanford and Boise State. Despite a 0-3 record and a struggling offense, Plough warned against underestimating Utah Tech, noting their potential to surprise with a strong defensive game.
“It’s going to be more about us and continuing to grow and playing more consistently in all three phases,” said Plough, emphasizing the team’s focus on improvement rather than overlooking their opponents.
The Aggies will look to showcase their offensive firepower, led by quarterback Miles Hastings, who is nearing 1,000 passing yards for the season. Running back Lan Larison has been a consistent force on the ground, while a strong receiving corps featuring CJ Hutton, Samuel Gbatu Jr., Chaz Davis, and the returning Trent Tompkins provides Hastings with plenty of targets.
With a challenging Big Sky Conference schedule looming, the Aggies are eager to demonstrate their progress against Utah Tech before facing Idaho next week.
The game kicks off at 7 p.m. at UC Davis Health Stadium.
