Wed Sep 18 02:36:48 UTC 2024: ## Nokia Launches AI-Era Data Center Automation Platform
**Espoo, Finland – September 17, 2024** – Nokia today unveiled its groundbreaking Event-Driven Automation (EDA) platform, designed specifically for the demands of the AI era. This innovative platform leverages Kubernetes to deliver highly reliable, simplified, and adaptable lifecycle management for data center networks.
Nokia’s EDA aims to eliminate human error in network operations, ultimately reducing network disruptions and application downtime by up to 40%. This is crucial as businesses grapple with the exponential demand for data center infrastructure fueled by digital transformation and the rise of AI applications.
The platform addresses key challenges faced by webscalers, enterprises, and service providers, including workforce shortages and skills gaps. EDA overcomes the limitations of current automation solutions by offering:
* **Enhanced Reliability:** An integrated digital twin, pre- and post-deployment checkpoints, multi-dimensional observability, and a robust CI/CD methodology with revision control minimize human error and associated downtime.
* **Simplified Operations:** Intent-based declarative automation, GenAI assistance, and a low-code/no-code approach to building customized dashboards streamline network management.
* **Multi-Vendor Integration:** EDA seamlessly integrates into multi-vendor, multi-domain environments with support for a wide range of IT service management systems, event notification systems, and cloud management platforms.
Built upon the powerful Kubernetes platform, EDA utilizes its cloud-based microservices architecture to deliver an event-driven, declarative approach to network automation, complementing it with network-wide transactions. This enables network resources to be consumed in the same way as other data center applications.
Available through both on-premise and cloud-based subscription models, EDA features an app store that allows operators to customize their automation environment.
Nokia’s EDA platform complements its existing SR Linux network operating system and portfolio of data center switching and routing platforms, offering webscale and enterprise organizations access to fully modernized data center networks.
“Nokia’s decision to leverage Kubernetes for its EDA platform is a smart move,” said Roy Chua, Founder and Principal at AvidThink. “Enabling the network to be managed and orchestrated in the same manner as compute will be a groundbreaking innovation for data center operations staff.”
Vach Kompella, Senior Vice President and General Manager of IP Networks business at Nokia, stated, “Our next generation EDA platform is a game-changer for data center networks. By leveraging the power of Kubernetes, we are enabling our customers to access a modern approach to network automation that significantly reduces operational effort and helps eliminate human error.”
