**REDMOND, WA – September 16, 2024** – Microsoft has announced enhanced security features for its AI-powered Copilot, focusing on enterprise and education customers. The updates, arriving in conjunction with the Windows 11 24H2 feature update, aim to bolster data protection and provide a smoother experience for users.
One key change is the introduction of **enterprise data protection for Copilot users who sign in with an Entra account.** This means the same strong security, privacy, and compliance controls available for Microsoft 365 Copilot will now extend to Copilot prompts and responses within Windows.
In addition, **both in-app and web versions of Copilot will be ad-free**, creating a distraction-free environment for users. Microsoft is also **making the Copilot experience available for Microsoft 365 users with work or school accounts** and prioritizing the development of new features for the Microsoft 365 app over Windows-specific Copilot features.
These changes are set to roll out in phases, beginning with **optional non-security preview releases on September 24th, 2024** for managed PCs. The **full rollout is scheduled for October 8th** for all supported versions of Windows 11, with **Windows 10 users seeing the changes in November**.
These updates aim to address concerns regarding security and data protection, making Copilot a more attractive option for organizations and educational institutions looking to integrate AI into their workflows.
