Michael Chandler, set to face Charles Oliveira in a highly anticipated rematch at UFC 309, revealed he almost fought Max Holloway at UFC 306. The fight, which would have been for a “BMF” title, was offered to Chandler after his scheduled bout with Conor McGregor at UFC 303 fell apart.

Chandler, who remains open to a future fight with McGregor, sees his upcoming clash with Oliveira as a “No. 1 contender” fight. He’s also eager to face lightweight champion Islam Makhachev if McGregor isn’t ready.

The Holloway fight, however, fell through. Chandler accepted the offer but understands Holloway’s decision to decline, considering he was on vacation and not ready for a fight.

Despite the missed opportunity, Chandler believes the matchup will happen next year. He’s looking forward to a busy 2025 with potential fights against Oliveira, Makhachev, McGregor, and Holloway, all of which he sees as exciting and high-stakes matchups.
