Delhi is set to have a new Chief Minister as Arvind Kejriwal steps down after a meeting with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena today. Kejriwal’s resignation paves the way for AAP leader Atishi to take over the top post. The decision was made at a meeting of AAP leaders today.

Atishi, 43, currently holds the portfolios of education and Public Works Department (PWD) in the Delhi government. Her rise to the Chief Minister position comes amidst a shake-up in AAP’s leadership. Senior leaders like Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, embroiled in legal battles, have resigned from their positions following arrests, creating a leadership vacuum.

A Rhodes Scholar and Oxford University alumnus, Atishi brings a strong academic background to the role. Her experience in public service, particularly in the education sector, is notable.
