**New Delhi:** Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will resign from his post on Tuesday, following his bail in the Delhi liquor policy case. He has called a meeting with party leaders to decide his successor.
Kejriwal announced his resignation yesterday, stating he would let the people of Delhi decide his fate. He also indicated that the AAP is prepared for early elections if necessary.
The party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) met today to discuss potential candidates for the Chief Minister position. Kejriwal held one-on-one meetings with PAC members and will meet with MLAs tomorrow.
Several names are being floated as potential successors, including:
* **Atishi**: A key minister holding the education and public works portfolios, Atishi is an Oxford University alumnus and Rhodes scholar known for her work in overhauling Delhi’s education system.
* **Saurabh Bharadwaj**: A three-time MLA, Bharadwaj is the current vigilance and health minister.
* **Raghav Chadha**: An AAP MP and former chartered accountant, Chadha played a key role in the party’s Punjab victory in 2022.
* **Kailash Gahlot**: A senior AAP minister, Gahlot holds the key portfolios of transport, finance, and home affairs.
* **Sanjay Singh**: A prominent AAP MP known for his spirited speeches in parliament, Singh is a founder member of the party.
The party is likely to choose a leader with strong credentials and broad appeal within the AAP. While Assembly elections are scheduled for February 2024, Kejriwal has demanded elections be held earlier, in November, along with the Maharashtra polls.
