From September 16-22, bars and restaurants worldwide will raise a glass to the Negroni, celebrating the classic cocktail and its variations while supporting the Slow Food movement.
This year’s Negroni Week features a diverse range of creative takes on the classic recipe, showcasing the versatility of this beloved aperitivo. From a sweet potato shochu and Amontillado sherry twist at the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong to a spicy rum Negroni with pineapple shrub at a Cebu City steakhouse, there’s a Negroni for every taste.
Highlights include:
* **The Maverick:** Tequila Negroni with cherry tomato, lemon, and coconut oil, created by Lorenzo Antinori at the No. 1 bar in Hong Kong and Asia.
* **The Jeju Negroni:** A fusion of the classic Negroni with a Korean spirit infused with dried tangerine peel, offered at Asia’s No. 20 Best Bar, Bar Cham.
* **The Bounty on the Count:** A coconut and chocolate Negroni with coconut fat-washed Campari, served at Flying Dutchmen.
* **The Bitter Bird:** A blend of Campari, pineapple rum, chile-infused vodka, and falernum, available at one of Canada’s best cocktail bars.
* **The Seville Negroni:** A revival of a previous favorite, featuring freeze-dried Mandarin oranges for an intense citrus flavor, offered at one of the world’s best bars.
* **The Hojicha Negroni:** Crafted with hojicha-infused gin, coffee liqueur, and chocolate bitters, created at the elegant speakeasy Bar Kamon in Japan.
Participating bars and restaurants are encouraged to donate a portion of their Negroni sales to Slow Food, an organization promoting sustainable food systems and protecting culinary traditions.
