**Nantucket, MA** – San Francisco-based design studio LMNOP has crafted a fresh identity for the Beachside Hotel in Nantucket, evoking the carefree spirit of classic American summers. The studio embraced a “blue sky thinking” approach, encouraging guests to fully immerse themselves in the hotel’s unique atmosphere.

“We aimed to break away from Nantucket’s traditional mold,” says Leigh Nelson, LMNOP’s principal and creative director. “We wanted to create a laid-back yet high-touch self-service environment that encourages guests to explore and engage with the hotel’s spaces and experiences.”

The design team centered the brand around four core pillars: understated, unexpected, comfortable, and fun. LMNOP’s signature “Less is More” philosophy shines through in the use of simple, utilitarian typography and layouts, creating a sense of familiar, casual nostalgia.

Unexpected design elements, like layered visual systems and unique material choices, add a touch of discovery throughout the hotel. For example, the intentionally imperfect checkerboard patterns evoke nostalgic picnic imagery, blending refined aesthetics with casual comfort.

The fun element is embodied in the Beachside Hotel’s sunburst brand mark, which encapsulates the vibrancy of summer and is featured across merchandise and digital platforms. The typographic logo, using the quirky PP Agrandir font, adds an element of humanity to the brand.

The color palette features tweaked primary colors, adding to the vintage vibe. Red becomes a burnt orange, blue is softened and dustier, and the yellow is a warm cream shade.

The Beachside Hotel’s identity extends beyond the visual, encompassing a playful brand voice that evokes a sense of coming-of-age. The copy focuses on friendship, camaraderie, and shared experiences, creating a welcoming and memorable environment for guests.
