Tue Sep 17 06:55:54 UTC 2024: ## Flappy Bird Creator Denies Involvement in Upcoming Reboot

**San Francisco, CA** – Dong Nguyen, the original creator of the wildly popular mobile game Flappy Bird, has publicly denied any involvement in the game’s upcoming reboot. The statement comes after the announcement of the reboot, which will be developed by The Flappy Bird Foundation and released on various platforms starting later this year.

Nguyen took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify his position, stating, “No, I have no related with their game. I did not sell anything. I also don’t support crypto.”

According to reports from Engadget, Gametech Holdings LLC, the company that The Flappy Bird Foundation acquired the rights from, may have secured the Flappy Bird trademark due to Nguyen’s previous trademark being considered abandoned.

The reboot of Flappy Bird is scheduled to launch on web browsers by the end of October, followed by releases on iOS and Android in 2025.

Nguyen famously pulled Flappy Bird from app stores in 2014 at the peak of its popularity, citing concerns about its addictive nature. “Flappy Bird was designed to play in a few minutes when you are relaxed. But it happened to become an addictive product. I think it has become a problem. To solve that problem, it’s best to take down Flappy Bird. It’s gone forever,” he said at the time.

It remains to be seen how fans will react to the upcoming reboot without the original creator’s involvement.
