
Wed Sep 18 02:53:00 UTC 2024: ## Inmate Apprehended Shortly After Escaping Guam Department of Corrections
**Hagåtña, Guam** – Tanya Lynn Aguon, an inmate housed at the Department of Corrections (DOC), was apprehended approximately 20 minutes after escaping the facility Wednesday morning.
DOC Director Fred Bordallo Jr. confirmed the incident, stating that security personnel discovered a cut fence and immediately initiated a full lockdown. The DOC’s Special Operations team observed Aguon fleeing the compound and apprehended her.
Aguon, a Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center client under court-ordered confinement, is currently facing charges of escape and property damage. She is also awaiting trial for alleged offenses including throwing rocks at cars in May 2024, aggravated assault in 2021, and robbery in 2019.
The Guam Police Department was notified of the incident and is assisting with the investigation. The DOC has also launched an internal affairs investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding Aguon’s escape.
