Wed Sep 18 02:21:18 UTC 2024: ## Atishi to Address Delhi Assembly in Special Session Next Week

**New Delhi:** Atishi, the newly appointed chief minister-designate of Delhi, is set to address her first session as leader of the house in the Delhi assembly next Thursday, September 27. The Delhi government has called for a two-day special session on September 26 and 27, party officials confirmed Tuesday.

This special session coincides with the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal as chief minister and Atishi’s claim to form the new government. While the agenda for the session remains undecided, Atishi is expected to address the issues faced by Delhi and outline the government’s future plans.

The timing of the oath-taking ceremony for Atishi remains unclear. The date will depend on the availability of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and the President’s approval.

According to constitutional expert SK Sharma, the President holds the power to appoint ministers and the chief minister. However, with AAP holding a clear majority, there are no anticipated hurdles in the process.

While three major sessions – budget, monsoon, and winter – are held annually in the assembly, additional sessions are called as needed to address urgent government business. The law mandates a maximum six-month gap between sessions.
