Omaha indie rock icons Bright Eyes played a surprise set under the alias “7:55 Saturday Radical Stage Riot Boys” at Chicago’s Lincoln Hall last Saturday, debuting new songs from their upcoming album *Five Dice, All Threes*.
The band performed a mix of old and new material, including live debuts of “Bells And Whistles,” “El Capitan,” “Bas Jan Ader,” “Real Feel 105°,” and “Tiny Suicides,” as well as their recent single “Rainbow Overpass.” They also treated fans to a first-time performance of “Happy Accident” from their 2004 album *One Jug Of Wine, Two Vessels*.
The setlist also included fan favorites from *I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning*, covers of Thin Lizzy and Ted Hawkins, and a surprise encore featuring a live debut of Ted Hawkins’ “Sorry You’re Sick.”
The performance was a surprise to fans, as the band’s official Riot Fest schedule listed them as playing the Radical Stage at 7:55 on Saturday. The band also announced that they will perform under the moniker “Ojos Brilliantes” (Spanish for “Shiny Eyes”) at a show in Cleveland tonight.
This secret show marks the latest chapter in Bright Eyes’ ongoing comeback, with the release of *Five Dice, All Threes* highly anticipated by fans.
