Sun Sep 15 17:22:49 UTC 2024: ## Chargers Strike First Against Panthers with Johnston TD
**CHARLOTTE, NC** – The Los Angeles Chargers have taken an early lead in their matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Rookie wide receiver Quentin Johnston caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Justin Herbert on the Chargers’ opening drive, giving them a 6-0 advantage.
However, kicker Cameron Dicker missed the extra point, leaving the Chargers with just six points. It was Dicker’s first ever missed extra point in 60 attempts.
The Chargers nearly suffered a turnover in Carolina territory when Herbert escaped pressure and threw an incomplete pass to tight end Eric Tomlinson. The play was initially ruled a fumble recovered by the Panthers, but a review overturned the call.
Herbert has completed 3 of 4 passes for 43 yards and a touchdown, with Johnston hauling in two receptions for 32 yards.
