**VIZIANAGARAM/PARVATIPURAM, INDIA – September 17, 2024** – The newly launched Vande Bharat Express, connecting Durg and Visakhapatnam, has ignited hopes for increased business activity in Vizianagaram and Parvatipuram-Manyam districts of Andhra Pradesh.
The high-speed train, which reduces the travel time between Vizianagaram and Durg from nine hours to five, is seen as a boon for traders who frequently travel between the two regions for business.
“The Vande Bharat Express will be a game-changer for our region,” stated Bonela Vijayachandra, MLA for Parvatipuram. “It will significantly improve connectivity and make it easier for traders to transport goods.”
Union Minister for Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu, along with local representatives including Vizianagaram MP Kalisetti Appalanaidu and Etcherla legislator N. Eswara Rao, travelled on the maiden run of the train and expressed their appreciation for the initiative. They thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing the new train, praising its modern features and the enhanced railway infrastructure.
Vizianagaram Balaji Textile Market President Buddepu Venkata Rao and Secretary Nirmal Kumar Pokarna hailed the Vande Bharat Express as a welcome development for traders in Vizianagaram, a prominent business hub in North Andhra. However, they also urged the railway authorities to address infrastructure issues, including the repair of the Cantonment Railway Bridge and development of the Vizianagaram railway station on the Cantonment side.
The introduction of the Vande Bharat Express is expected to have a positive impact on economic activities in the region, facilitating smoother transportation of goods and services, and boosting the overall trade and commerce landscape.
