Tue Sep 17 06:54:32 UTC 2024: ## Second Lunar Eclipse of 2024 Won’t be Visible in India
**New Delhi, September 17, 2024** – The second and final lunar eclipse of 2024, scheduled to occur on Wednesday, September 18, will not be visible in India. While the eclipse will begin at 6:12 AM and end at 10:17 AM IST, it will be observable primarily in Europe, most parts of Asia, Africa, North and South America, and the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic, and Antarctic Oceans.
Though the eclipse will not be visible in India, the “Sutak Kaal,” a period of religious significance, is traditionally observed for 9 hours prior to a lunar eclipse. However, due to the eclipse’s invisibility, the “Sutak Kaal” will not be applicable in India.
The “Sutak Kaal” is typically observed with restrictions on religious activities and certain actions like eating and cooking. While the eclipse will not be visible from India, some cities may still be able to observe the moon in the early morning hours.
This lunar eclipse, occurring during the “Pitru Paksha” (a fortnight dedicated to ancestors in Hinduism), will not impact India’s religious practices as it will not be visible within the country’s borders.
