Mon Sep 16 15:16:02 UTC 2024: ## Apple Watch Now Detects Sleep Apnea with FDA Approval

**Cupertino, CA** – Apple has received FDA approval for its new sleep apnea detection feature on the Apple Watch Series 10, 9, and Ultra 2. The feature, which was first announced last week, uses software algorithms to analyze sensor data and assess the risk of sleep apnea in users who have not been previously diagnosed.

This over-the-counter device is not intended to provide a standalone diagnosis or replace traditional methods of diagnosis. It is meant to serve as an early alert for potential sleep apnea. According to the National Council on Aging, approximately 39 million U.S. adults suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, which can lead to serious health problems like heart attacks, diabetes, and obesity.

The sleep apnea detection feature is expected to be available in over 150 countries later this month. Apple Watch Series 10 is set to release this Friday. This latest development comes on the heels of Apple receiving FDA approval for its AirPods Pro hearing aid feature earlier this year.
