Tue Sep 17 10:40:57 UTC 2024: ## Trump Blames Harris and Biden for Second Assassination Attempt
**West Palm Beach, FL** – Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Monday blamed his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden for a second apparent assassination attempt against him, claiming their rhetoric about him endangering democracy is to blame.
The incident occurred Sunday while Trump played golf in Florida, when a suspect, identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, allegedly attempted to fire on him. Routh was arrested shortly after being spotted hiding with an assault-style rifle near the golf course.
Trump, who was unharmed in the incident, told Fox News Digital that “the bullets are flying, and it will only get worse” due to the inflammatory language used by Biden and Harris. He accused them of using “highly inflammatory language” and pointed to their frequent comments about his threat to democracy, stemming from his refusal to concede the 2020 election and his support of the January 6th Capitol riot.
Biden, while expressing relief that Trump was safe, urged Congress to provide more support to the Secret Service, which came under criticism for its handling of the shooting in Pennsylvania earlier this year.
The alleged assailant, Routh, has a history of criminal activity and was reportedly obsessed with the Ukrainian cause. He travelled to Ukraine in hopes of volunteering and recruiting foreign fighters. However, there’s no evidence he participated in fighting or joined the Ukrainian military.
The incident comes as the U.S. presidential race enters its final weeks, with polls showing a tight finish. Tensions have been high in recent days, fueled by conspiracy theories spread by Trump and his running mate J.D. Vance about the Haitian immigrant community in Springfield, Ohio.
Concerns remain that Trump, if he loses, will refuse to concede the election, potentially leading to a repeat of the January 6th violence.
