**New Delhi, September 15, 2024:** Public and private sector banks in 14 states across India will be closed on Monday, September 16th, in observance of Eid-E-Milad, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad. The holiday, also known as Muhammad’s Birthday, Nabi Day, or Mawlid, is a significant occasion for Muslims worldwide.

The states impacted by the bank closure include Gujarat, Mizoram, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Manipur, Jammu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. However, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced a change in the public holiday schedule for Maharashtra. The state government has revised its holiday declaration, moving the public holiday from September 16th to September 18th. This change will affect transactions and settlements in government securities, foreign exchange, money markets, and rupee interest rate derivatives.

While physical bank branches will be closed, customers can still access online banking services to conduct transactions, check balances, and manage their accounts.
